When choosing therapy …..
What to talk about ? Where to begin? How will it feel?
As you might expect there is no correct or definitive answer to these questions. What can serve as a guide is to remember that the session is yours - your time, your questions, your concerns - all is welcome.
“ This being human is a guest house, every morning a new arrival….” Rumi
Allowing yourself to be open to a new person for the first time can be daunting, so it is important that you feel a degree of ease and comfort with the therapist you choose on the first meeting, even if faintly. This can be the beginning of a connection, one which is necessary for the therapeutic relationship to begin.
